About Peter
Peter is a California appellate attorney specializing in family law matters.
Peter received a Bachelor of Arts degree with distinction in economics from Yale University and earned his Juris Doctor degree cum laude from the University of Michigan Law School. After law school, he joined a large law firm working in their business department, but began doing appellate work shortly thereafter. In 1996, Peter started his own appellate practice.
Since 1991, Peter has handled hundreds of appeals and writs at all levels of state and federal court, including in the United States Supreme Court, where he successfully argued Cunningham v. California (2007) 549 U.S. 270. In 2007, California Lawyer Magazine named him Attorney of the Year in Appellate Law.
In addition to handling family law appeals and writs, Peter works collaboratively with trial counsel when appropriate, providing objective evaluation of appellate issues and strategic guidance in anticipation of appeal.
